Tuckmill Cottage is situated in a stunning rural location bordering National Trust land. It is surrounded by glorious countryside and was originally the last remaining mill of the 19th century standing on the Cage Brook. Eaton Camp, an Iron Age fort, lies within walking distance and there are many footpaths allowing you to explore the surrounding countryside on foot. The cottage is just less than 3 miles away from the thriving village of Madley, with its school, village shop and fine Norman Church with magnificent early stained glass. Less than 5 miles away is the historic Cathedral city of Hereford, home to the World-famous Mappa Mundi and with everything you would expect from a city; excellent shops, cafes and restaurants, hotels, schools, colleges, leisure facilities and cider museum, reflecting the areas long history of apple growing and cider-making, along with other places of historical interest. It is within easy reach of the interesting border town of Hay on Wye, 14 miles, famous for its bookshops and International Literary Festival and also gateway to the dramatic scenery of the Black Mountains. There are good road connections to the M50 at Ross on Wye, 18 miles, and excellent rail links to London Paddington and Birmingham New Street are found at Hereford.

Tuckmill Cottage is a charming and spacious 19th century stone and brick cottage with many character features. Slate steps lead up to the panelled front door and into the entrance hall with tiled floor and large sash window. Off the hall is the cloakroom and double glass panelled doors lead into the large and attractive dining room. There are exposed timbers to the ceiling, tiled floor and a fine staircase with stripped bannister, curved newel post and barley twist spindles. An under stairs cupboard and an individually designed built in cupboard with shelves above provide useful storage. From the dining room, a door leads to the attractive enclosed porch with space for coats and boots. The spacious sitting room has limestone flooring and is filled with natural light from a full height sash window. A wood burning stove is inset into the fireplace which has a wooden surround with marble inserts and hearth. Ample fitted shelving flanks the doorway leading into the dining room. The large kitchen has a terracotta tiled floor and handmade painted floor units with two cupboards built to house a dishwasher and washing machine. There is a wooden worktop with tiled splash back, stainless steel sink, electric hob and built in eye level oven. Three further built in cupboards and separate fixed shelving provides ample storage and one of the cupboards has room for a fridge/freezer. A feature of the kitchen is an old ceiling beam which is beautifully carved and appears to pre date the cottage, possibly coming from a church or other historic property. Upstairs, the galleried landing benefits from a double and a single built in wardrobe. There are two light and airy double bedrooms. One has a built in wardrobe, under eaves cupboards and an attractive arched window to one side and views out to the meadow and countryside beyond. The other bedroom has two built in cupboards, one of which is the airing cupboard, and under eaves storage. The bathroom has a traditional white suite and storage provided by two cupboards with shelving above.

The property is approached from a very quiet no-through lane, onto the drive and through a wooden field gate into the gravel parking area bordered by stone walling. A large paved area provides the perfect place to sit and enjoy the superb rural and historic surroundings that the cottage sits in. You are treated to the most picturesque scenes of adjacent meadows, and beautiful trees as well as listening to the sound of bird song in this peaceful setting. A pergola over part of the gravel area would make a most attractive feature if clothed in scented climbing plants to accompany the established rose and specimen tree. A path to the side of the property gives access to two garden sheds one of which is used as a wood store. Walking past the sheds, a step leads you up to a gate and a lovely brick path that takes you round the rear of the property and back to the drive. A small border is filled with an attractive mix of plants.
