Slade Farm is located at the end of a lane on the outskirts of the village of Peterchurch, within walking distance of the village centre. This south-facing property enjoys far reaching rural views across neighbouring pasture-land to the wooded hillsides of The Golden Valley and the distant Black Mountains. Peterchurch is a pretty village, named, so legend has it, because Saint Peter passed through here, blessing a spring as he went so that baptisms could take place. The ancient church has a tall spire, visible for miles around. It is one of only two in the country now constructed from fibre-glass, owing to the prohibitive cost of restoration in stone! The village has a primary school, hairdressers, bistro, and a secondary school that is in the top 10 percent in the country for GCSE passes. A bus route to both Hay-on-Wye and Hereford passes through the village. The world-famous book town of Hay is 9 miles away, with its many restaurants, hotels, and boutique-style shops. The cathedral city of Hereford is 12 miles away. Hereford offers everything you would expect from a riverside county capital excellent shops, supermarkets, hotels, schools, colleges, football team, leisure facilities, and a Cider Museum, reflecting the areas long history of apple-growing and cider-making. There is a direct rail link from Hereford to London Paddington.

Slade Farm is a south-facing timber-framed attached cottage with 9 deep gabled dormer windows. Thought to have been built in the earliest years of the 16th Century, the house retains much of its original integrity and character to this day. The wooden stable-style front door, under its porch canopy, opens onto the hall. On the right hand side, double doors and a shallow step lead into reception room 1. This room runs the entire depth of the house. It has a wide square bay with panelled windows overlooking the forecourt, and a small window to the rear of the property. Metal French windows open into the single pent aluminium-framed greenhouse at the side of the house. On the opposite side of the hall a door leads into reception room 2, again spanning the entire depth of the house. This room has a panelled window to the forecourt, a window to the rear garden, and features a wealth of exposed timbers in the ceiling, and an ancient timber-framed wall. The fireplace is of stone and brick with a huge 9ft long oak lintel, and cast iron hood and basket ready for an open fire. An exposed brick section next to the fireplace features the cast iron door of the bread oven. A wooden staircase rises against oak panelling to the first floor. There is a useful under stairs storage cupboard. A latched door leads from this room into reception room 3. This room again features a wealth of exposed timbers in the ceiling, a half-timbered wall with hatch to country kitchen, and a panelled window to the front forecourt garden. A door leads from reception room 2 into the country kitchen. This room has windows to the rear garden, many exposed timbers, and kitchen units under a white laminated worktop with double drainer stainless steel sink and taps. There is a black and white solid fuel Rayburn. Steps lead down from the country kitchen to a half-timbered passage. On the left hand side is the additional kitchen, with panelled window to the front of the property, window seat, and large full-height pantry cupboard. This room has pine units under a marble-effect laminated worktop with double drainer stainless steel sink and taps. At the end of the corridor is a deep full-height larder cupboard. On the right hand side of the passage is the utility room, with half-glazed door to the rear garden, plumbing for a washing machine, fitted cupboards, and open shelving. The staircase rises from reception room 2 through an ancient door onto the large landing. From here the length of the house becomes more apparent, as well as its great age and triple A-frame construction. The landing itself features a wide, deep gabled dormer window overlooking the front forecourt garden with far-reaching views beyond. A door opens onto newly-fitted bathroom 1 with dormer window and exposed timbers in its fascinating roof-line. A second door opens onto an under-eaves wardrobe. A wonderfully sloping landing corridor with exposed stone chimney wall and under-eaves low-level storage area leads to bedroom 1. This room has a deep dormer to the rear garden, a second window to the meadow adjacent to the property, an exposed pink Herefordshire stone wall, and a magnificent half-timbered wall to full gable height. A door opens onto a deep fitted wardrobe. Outside the bedroom is a landing recess with deep gabled dormer window. From the large landing a wide wooden hatch door set into the central A-frame leads into the second landing corridor with rooms off on both sides. The corridor is to full ridge height and has a skylight. To the left hand side, and both featuring dormer windows to the front of the property, and pine panelled fitted wardrobes, are bedrooms 2 and 3. Both rooms feature exposed A-frame timbers. On the right hand side is bathroom 2 with dormer window, pine-panelled bath and exposed A-frame timbers. A door opens onto a box room with deep dormer to the rear garden. At the end of the corridor on the right hand side is bedroom 4 with dormer window to the rear garden and pasture-land beyond, and fitted wardrobe.

Slade Farm has a flag-stoned forecourt dotted with beds of roses and other quintessential cottage garden flowers. To the rear of the property is a meadow-style garden with mature trees, including apple and plum trees, adjoining pasture-land. To the side of the property is a sloping meadow, and the grounds total almost an acre. Opposite the property is gated farm and grazing land, and beyond that the wooded countryside of this glorious part of Herefordshire. Next to the house stands a mature flowering cherry tree. The gravelled area around the cherry tree provides ample parking space.
